Description
Shortly after Mt Rainier was established tin 1899, the National Park Inn was constructed in 1906 on the site of the original Longmire homestead at Longmire Springs and Meadow. In 1916 an additional hotel, known as the Longmire Springs Hotel, was built across the road catering to visitors to the Longmire Hot Springs. In 1920 the new hotel was moved next to the larger National Park Inn and was used as the National Park Inn Annex.
In 1926 the original National Park Inn burned to the ground leaving only the Annex, which then became known as the National Park Inn as it exists today. The Inn is open year around with 25 guest rooms, a full service dining room, a general store and a post office.
