Description
Glenns Ferry was one of the most famous and treacherous river crossings on the Oregon Trail. Pioneers forded the Snake River at the Three Island Crossing until 1869, when Gustavus "Gus" Glenn constructed a ferry about two miles upstream, primarily to expedite freight but also for emigrants.
The Bostic’s Livery Barn Mural in Glenns Ferry, Idaho is on the front of the old Bostic’s Livery Barn located at 118 West First Avenue at North Ada Street. When the town was incorporated in 1871 the road was known as the Old Oregon Trail. The mural says that the livery was established in 1909. Old photographs of the building show that it was Moat’s Auto Company before the building was renovated in 2008. The mural was painted on the front of the building by Susan Helton after the building renovation was completed as part of the Glenns Ferry Revitalization Project.
