Description
Steamboat Rock rises above the still waters of Banks Lake at Steamboat Rock State Park. Banks Lake lies within the Lower Grand Coulee created by the cataclysmic Missoula Flood during the Ice Age. The massive flood carved Steamboat Rock in a matter of hours as the 900 foot wall of water roared down the coulee at 60 to 70 miles per hour.
