Artist's Description
I have always loved the brilliant orange color of old growth Ponderosa Pine, Pinus ponderosa. I captured this scene of a herd of horses feeding in a grove of Ponderosa Pine in the summer of 1966, while I worked in the Burns Ranger District in the Malheur National Forest, while I was a student of Oregon State University. As I remember it was in the Sawtooth Meadows area.
