When I viewed these basalt columns, I thought that they resembled a huge rock fortress. They are located within Frenchman Springs Coulee created by the Ice Age Flood. These Basalt Columns at Frenchman Springs Coulee along the Columbia River are especially awesome. They are formed by the rapid cooling of the lava that was laid down prior to the Flood. Technically they would not classified as an Ice Age Flood feature, since they were formed during the volcanic eruptions long before the flood; however, they were most likely exposed by the flood waters raging through the coulee.
