Description
I thought this looked like it was a tortoise crawling out of the trunk of the tree. This oddity can be see on the trunk of the tree in my image, World's Largest Tree Roots, giving some perspective to the size. The World's largest Sitka Spruce tree, Picea sitchensis, is located on the south shore of Lake Quinault in the Quinault Rainforest in Olympic National Park. The majestic tree has a circumference of 58 feet, 11 inches, or approximately 18 feet, 9 inches. in diameter. It is 191 feet tall and is estimated to be about 1000 years old.
