Description
The Tolmie Peak Lookout is located at an elevation of 5,940 feet in the northwest of Mt Rainier National Park. It affords a commanidng view overlooking Eunice Lake, the Cascade Mountain Range, and Mt. Rainier. It is a moderately easy hike to the summit from Eunice Lake, however the trail from Mowich Lake, which can be seen in the distance, to Eunice Lake can be challenging. The tower was built in 1933 and is still used in emergencies and as a cabin for wilderness rangers in the park. Because of the high winds at the top of Tolmie Peak, the stucture is tied with cables anchored to deadmen buried in the ground.
