Description
As you look westward down the inner gorge of the Colorado River Valley from South Rim you can follow the Tonto Platform, the broad plateau of the floor of the relatively flat ancient valley. It is simply a river valley with its tributaries cutting through the sandstones of the American Southwest. Science has now proven, pretty conclusively that the Grand Canyon was most likely carved in about two weeks following the breaching of what was known as Grand Lake located in southern Utah and Hopi Lake located east of the canyon in the area of the Petrified Forest. The two lakes were formed following the Biblical flood approximately 6000 years ago.
