Description
The #17 Steam Locomotive is the primary work horse for the Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad running from Mineral to Elbe, Washington. This locomotive is a Type "2-8-2T" built in 1929 by the American Locomotive Company for the Crosset Western Company in Wauna, Oregon and sold to Hammond Lumber Company in Samoa, California in 1942. It was abandoned in the woods following a 1945 wildfire and acquired by the Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad in 1980.
