Description
Shaniko was the hub of the sheep and wool industry of eastern Oregon in the early 1900's. The town was abandoned and became a "ghost town" in the 1940's. It has been kept alive and partially restored, but still retains the character of the once booming town. The hotel has been restored but is currently not open for business.

Hi Charles...l like your image. My wife Vivian and l spent a night in our RV in Shaniko. Everything was closed for the season but a barn style museum had the door open...The barn is chock full of antique cars...Check my Oregon or Classic Car gallery if you wish to see my images. Thank you very much for your lovely image to remind me of the good opportunity there...Cheers Bob
