Awesome work Charles.. l/f

Charles Robinson replied:

Thank you, Rex. The house was undergoing some renovations while I was there. I had to do a little of editing to "remove" the scaffolding on the roof and front of the building.

Artist's Description

John Rankin, an adamant abolitionist, was the first and most active of the Underground Railroad "conductors. His home high on the hill in Ripley, Ohio was the first stop in the flight to freedom for runaway slaves from 1822 until 1865. The stories of the slaves passing through the house were the inspriration for Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel, "Uncle Tom's Cabin, in which, the runaways found sanctionary at the Rankin home after walking across the frozen Ohio River. It is now a National Historic Landmark. At the time of my visit, the home was undergoing some renovations, hence the ladder and scaffolding.
