Description
Little Tahoma Peak can be clearly viewed from Box Canyon. Little Tahoma Peak is a volcanic remnant. It was once part of the larger structure of Mount Rainier but parts eroded away. The rock is quite unstable and in 1963 a large avalanche originating below it covered the lower section of Emmons Glacier with rock debris. The Whitman Crest is to the right. At 11,138 ft elevation, if Little Tahoma were standing alone it would be the third highest peak in Washington.
