Description
Liberty Cap at Mammoth Hot Springs is silouetted against a brilliant blue sky at Yellowstone National Park. It looks like the face of a grumpy old man.

The face on the stone grabs my attention! What is the history? Who carved it? He looks sad to me, not grumpy. It's a very compelling image!
Charles Robinson replied:
Thank you for commenting, Meagan. It is a very intriguing formation. The Yellowstone National park website says that it grew from deposits from a now extinct hot spring leaving the rock now known as "Liberty Cap" behind. The face was created by weathering and erosion of the rock over a period of time.
