Description
This is the 600th photograph that I have uploaded into my galleries at Fine Art America, since I joined in January 2011. I hope that you like it. It has been an awesome journey covering over 20 states in this beautiful land that I call home.
This is an old waterwheel or small gristmill located along in the Grande Ronde Valley near Baker City, Oregon. It was built by one of the early settlers arriving via the Oregon Trail in the early 1850's. I am not sure of the water source, but it appears to be an undershot waterwheel, probably turned by a spring. The wooden structure above the wheel looks like a flume, except that the water would have flowed in the wrong direction.

Congratulations Charles! My wife nor I are familiar with this place, but we lived in Baker City and Joseph Oregon for a number of years. Lynne still has family in Baker. We miss the area a lot, especially Joseph, where we were up in the mountains. This is a beautiful piece of work and we're both thrilled to see something of one our favorite places in all the world, even if we haven't seen it first hand. Once again, congratulations, and keep blessing us with shots like this.
